Track 8

The Horizon in My Rearview

Official Visualizer

From Rusty’s notebook

Some endings are not endings at all.
They are the first quiet breath after a long way home.
In “The Horizon in My Rearview”, the road finally reaches the coast,
and the salt in the air no longer feels like sorrow.

The song begins where the continent falls into the Pacific —
where cedar and pine give way to ocean wind,
the truck rests near the cliffs and the spray,
and eight thousand miles settle softly
into the hands of someone who has changed.

Then the silence opens.
The radio is no longer needed,
the old weight lifts from the cabin,
and the light across the water
begins to feel like something promised and kept.

“The Horizon in My Rearview” is the moment the running stops.
It’s the sound of arriving without needing to explain,
of a restless soul becoming steady,
and a tired heart discovering
that every mile was leading somewhere after all.

Salt on his face.
The Pacific ahead.
The horizon in the mirror.
And the road behind him
still glowing with everything it carried home.
